“The thing that stands out most was when we all came to their house in Florida – The DeMartin’s and The Celentano’s. We terrorized the place. Aunt Peg was married to a Celentano man so she had to be pretty easy going to stick it out with Uncle Andy all those years. It’s a known fact that Celentano men have a screw loose, so the women who marry them aren’t far behind. The one thing I remember about Aunt Peg is not an instance, but an overall feeling. Aunt Peggy made me feel loved and special. I remember their house next to the fire station where Toni Ann, Cheech, and I would play. We had a ball and always used to think, ‘Wow, Aunt Peg treats us like one of her own kids.’ She was always so full of love. – Michael Celentano

“Peggy was such a great part of this family. My mother loved her like a daughter and would always stick up for Peg against Andrew. Even if Mama thought Peg was wrong, she’d still stick up for her. If Andrew yelled at Peg, Mom would hit him in the head with her wooden spoon.” – Madeline Celentano

“I remember Peggy telling such good stories of her escapades with Andrew. Peggy and I were such good friends. I was part of the original group that made the first trip to Laughlin. It was Margie, Peggy, Pauline, Jean, Melba, and me. We had such a great time. Peggy was hooked on Laughlin at first sight. She was always the first to get up and the last one to get back to the room. I always admired Peggy for her warm and friendly outlook on everything. She has such an open attitude about life and is always willing to try new things. Peggy welcomes you into her family with open arms.” – Jana Kelso

“Peggy made a very special effort to come to my wedding. She shared a room at a hotel with my mom’s girlfriend from Ohio. They were having so much fun in that room. They rolled up the rug and they began dancing. Peggy was doing the soft shoe. My 80-year-old aunt was staying in the room below them. She called the front desk wanting to know what crazy nuts were staying upstairs. Peggy’s presence at my wedding made it perfect.” – Diana D’Aurora

“Just knowing Peggy is memorable. I’ve never met anyone like her before and I haven’t met anyone like her since. We always had so much fun. She is just a riot. Peggy taught me how to say all the bad words in Italian. One time, we all went to Laughlin and Peggy had a blow out. There we were, standing in the middle of the desert, four old ladies. I felt like I was in a movie as Peggy flagged a car down and got the problem solved in no-time. Peggy can always find humor in anything.” – Anna Carver

“Aunt Peggy is a genuinely kind person. We always make sure we see her whenever she comes to new Haven. She is the one person that lights up any room she walks into.” – Mark & Kim Celentano

“I’ll never forget when we were young dressing up in our best Easter dresses and going out to the country to visit our Aunt. All these little poor kids came running up to the car to see us and we were being so snotty. We said we ‘hated wearing these old clothes.’ I also remember Peggy playing the accordion. She was so little with that big old thing but she played pretty darn good.” -Roberta Curtis

“I remember the happy voice of my mother whenever Aunt Peg was mentioned. She is her favorite person. She always told me how Aunt Peg brought life into the Celentano family. I think she learned how to have a good time by hanging around with her! I remember when I visited her in Burbank. She was going to take me for a drive, but instead we went on a roller coaster ride through the canyon. I remember flying through Los Angeles, gripping my seat while she chatted and merrily pointed out the scenic views. I will always have this memory of her, barreling though California, through life, full speed ahead with the certainty of a winner!”  – Denise Martone

“Peggy called me one early morning at 6 a.m. and said ‘I’ve got a free room in Laughlin – do you want to go?’ I asked Peggy ‘When?’ she said, ‘Now!’ I’m in my late 80s’ so I’m not used to that kind of spontaneity. That was the first outing of many that we went on together. We had so much fun. That’s when our friendship began.” – Toni Nataise

“We’ve all had such a good time together. I can’t believe how much time has passed. One thing that stands out about Peggy is what a great cook she was. She use to make this special Italian pie at Easter. I remember how to say it but I could never spell it! She always used to bring some for us to share on coffee break. And ya can’t forget her stuffed shells- yum! Peggy always had such a great, young-thinking attitude and zest for life, and everyone who has ever met her is better off for having known her.” – Bev Miller
