When Peggy came into town with Andrew I couldn’t believe it. I was about 17 at the time. She was this gorgeous blonde – a real knock out! My best friend came over and took one look at this good-looking woman and said, ‘Mike, do you think your brother would let me take her to the prom?’ I said, ‘Let you what? Are you kidding? My brother will kill you!’ I can also remember one day I decided to be absent from school. I guess you’d say I was playing hooky with my friends. The school called my Mom’s house and asked to speak to Mrs. Celentano. Peg had just married Andrew, so she said,’This is Mrs. Celentano, can I help you?’ It was my school asking where I was. Peg told them I was home in bed sick. She’s a great woman. I love her.” – Michael Celentano

“Peg’s friendship means more to me than anything. When I started working at St. Joe’s, I’d been laid off from a company that went bankrupt. I was making really good money at the time and was able to save a little. I was looking of another job that paid about the same but I was either over-qualified or the salary was too low. I was offered a job at the hospital working in the office next to Peg. The job paid a little less a month. I quickly went through my savings to make up the difference. I was in the Xerox room one day and I’m thinking about all these bills I had to pay and was almost crying. Peggy came up to me and asked me what was wrong. I told her that I didn’t know how I could make it until payday. Peg asked if $100 would help. She wanted to give it to me, but I borrowed it until payday. She told me I could ask her for help any time I needed it. She hardly even knew me. That was the beginning of our friendship and I have loved her ever since.” – Pauline Osborn

“We used to go to New York on Saturdays. All of us. Eleanor and Fo, Georgie and Rita, Peggy and Andy. We would have a ball!!! Andy would have us all laughing from the moment we left until the moment we got back. When we were in New York we would go to all the clubs, hear lots of great music and dance! That was Peggy’s favorite thing to do. One night, we were driving through New York and Andy was trying to show off to Peggy and prove to the rest of us how strong he was. He got out of the car and pulled a stop sign out of the ground with his bare hands! Those weekends were so much fun!” – Nick & Lena Celentano

“Mom and Peg were cooking in the kitchen and little Stevie was playing on the floor. Andrew hid in the closet and covered himself with a sheet. He came out making this ghost noise. Mom started screaming in Italian and Peggy grabbed Stevie and fell over Mom. We always had a lot of laughs with Peg.” – Philomena Celentano

“Peggy is one of my closest friends. We go way back with so many stories. There are a lot of stories by the time you get to be our age. There was this time when me and George and Banjo and Peggy went out on the town in George’s car. Banjo goes to open the door for Peggy and the whole door falls right off in his hand and he’s yelling at George. We laughed so hard. Then there was this time with Peggy when she ran into a pole, it landed right on to a car. There was no damage, but somehow she ended up in night court. There was a lot of good times. We liked to go out on Saturday nights, go to the clubs. We all had so much fun.” – Rita DeMartin

“I met Peggy nearly 50 years ago. Our friendship had stayed strong through the years. We could talk so easily. We cut up and joke all the way. That led to the meeting of our husbands, Rick and Andy. They became great friends. Andy got Rick a job working with Sinatra. Sometimes they would invite us down to come see a show. We’d go get out hair done and find the fanciest cocktail dresses that we could find. We would have such fun those nights. We had a swimming pool and we’d have these big picnics on the weekends. We would eat until we couldn’t eat anymore. It would always be all of us with the kids. We’d never get baby sitters, unless it was for Sinatra. I remember Peggy would always be singing, and one night Andy said it was his turn to entertain us, so he did a farting contest. I don’t think any of us have laughed that much since.” -Evelyn D’Aurora
